Responsibilities: All company operations ranging from identifying potential opportunities, to estimating and pre-construction, and overseeing projects through their final completion.
Experience: Ed decided to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, father and older brother and become involved in the electrical industry. In 1981 he attended apprenticeship school. After completing his electrical training, he went to a junior college at night to further his education. Ed joined J.E. Richards in 1987 and earned his way up through the ranks, initially as an estimator, then project manager, and then in 2001 he became the Executive Vice President. In 2012, after the retiring of former President and CEO Joe Richards, he was promoted to President of the company.
When we asked Ed what makes him proud, he said, “One of the things I have enjoyed the most about working at J.E. Richards is the relationships with all our employees. The attitude of all our employees has always been terrific, and as proof we have several employees with over 30 years tenure, and dozens with over 20 years of tenure. That, in my opinion, is employee loyalty. Also, through the years, J.E. Richards has been blessed to create and maintain great working relationships with our customers. Our customers expect a high level of quality construction, and we pride ourselves on always delivering, on time and within budget. This is evident through the amount of repeat customers that we retain as a company.”
“Our company was founded on trust. Trust that we will all work hard and help each other out and trust that we will be rewarded with outstanding projects to successfully build for our customers again and again.”
Free time: Ed enjoys going on family vacations with his wife and children. He also enjoys playing golf and basketball, and watching high school and college wrestling.
